What is the difference between ServSafe® Manager and ServSafe® Food Handler?
The ServSafe Manager Certification verifies that a manager or person-in-charge has enough food safety knowledge to protect the public from foodborne illness. This certification is generally required by the health department to operate a foodservice business, food truck, or apply for a cottage license. The ServSafe Food Handler Certificate verifies basic food safety knowledge for food handler employee-level positions.
If you are a restaurant owner, manager, or employee and are responsible for food safety, then you need the ServSafe® Food Manager Course. If you are not a manager but still an individual who will be handling the food in your establishment, then you need the ServSafe® Food Handler Course.
Is the ServSafe® Certified Food Protection Manager program ANSI accredited?
Yes, the ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification Exam is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) National Accreditation Board (ANAB) under the Conference for Food Protection (CFP) standard. The ServSafe program is a food and beverage safety training and certificate program administered by the US National Restaurant Association. It is accepted in all 50 states although restrictions apply in some jurisdictions.
